How it works
The calculation works the way you'd count it by hand: it takes the year, month, and day difference between the birth date and today, then borrows a month's worth of days if the day-of-month hasn't been reached yet this month, and borrows a year's worth of months the same way — so the years/months/days breakdown always adds up cleanly rather than being three independent roundings of the same span.
Frequently asked questions
Does it account for leap years?
Yes — the day-of-month borrowing uses the actual number of days in the specific previous month (28, 29, 30, or 31, whichever applies, including February in a leap year), so the years/months/days breakdown stays accurate around February 29th and varying month lengths.
What if I enter a future date?
You'll get an inline error — a birth date can't be later than today, so a future date is rejected rather than producing a negative or nonsensical age.
What does the total days number represent?
The exact number of calendar days between your birth date and today, calculated independently from the years/months/days breakdown — useful if you want a single number rather than three.
Does it calculate age as of today, or can I pick a different reference date?
It always calculates as of today's date — there's no option to calculate your age as of a different date.
Is my birth date sent anywhere?
No — the calculation happens entirely in your browser using your device's own clock. Nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
