Password Generator

Generate strong random passwords with custom length and character sets

Generates a random password using your browser's cryptographic random number generator, with a length slider and toggles for uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols — the password updates instantly as you adjust any setting.

How it works

Every change to the length or character-set checkboxes regenerates the password immediately using crypto.getRandomValues, the Web Crypto API's cryptographically secure random source — not Math.random(), which isn't designed for anything security-sensitive. The Regenerate button produces a fresh password at the same settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is this actually secure, or just random-looking?

It uses crypto.getRandomValues, the same cryptographically secure randomness source browsers use for things like generating encryption keys — not Math.random(), which is fine for games or animations but not designed to resist prediction.

Why is symbols unchecked by default?

Some login forms and legacy systems still reject certain symbols, so it defaults off to avoid generating a password that gets rejected on the first try. Turn it on for sites that support or require symbols.

What's the password length range?

4 to 64 characters, adjustable with the slider. Longer is generally stronger, so use the highest length a given site accepts unless you have a specific reason not to.

What happens if I uncheck every character set?

You'll get an inline error instead of an empty or fake password — at least one character set has to stay checked for there to be anything to generate from.

Is the password sent anywhere or logged?

No — generation happens entirely in your browser, and nothing about it is transmitted or stored. Closing the tab is the same as it never having existed anywhere else.
