EXIF Viewer & Remover

See what metadata is hidden in a photo and remove it

Shows you what metadata is hidden inside a photo — camera make and model, the date it was taken, and GPS coordinates if present — and lets you download a cleaned copy with all of it stripped out.

How it works

The tool reads the photo's EXIF data locally and displays it in a table. If GPS coordinates are present, it's flagged clearly, since that's the kind of information you might not realize is embedded in a file before you share it. The "download cleaned copy" button re-encodes the image through the Canvas API, which produces a file with no metadata at all by construction — nothing needs to be selectively deleted, since canvas-drawn pixels simply never carry EXIF data to begin with.

Frequently asked questions

Does showing me the GPS location mean it's been sent somewhere?

No — everything on this page, including the GPS coordinates, is read and displayed entirely in your browser. It's shown to you precisely so you can decide whether to remove it before you share the photo with anyone else.

What exactly gets removed in the cleaned copy?

Everything — camera info, date, GPS, and any other metadata the original file had. The cleaned file is produced by redrawing the image on a canvas and re-exporting it, and canvas output never carries metadata, so there's nothing left to strip out selectively.

What if my photo has no metadata at all?

You'll see a clear "no metadata found" message instead of an empty table — that's a normal, valid result, not an error.

What's the size limit?

100MB per photo.

Will the cleaned copy look any different?

No — only the metadata is affected. The visible image itself, including its orientation, corrected using the original EXIF rotation tag before that tag is discarded, looks the same.
