How it works
The tool resizes your source image to each required size using the Canvas API. If your image isn't square, it's center-cropped to a square first rather than stretched, which would distort it, then scaled down for each size. All six PNGs and a site.webmanifest file referencing the two largest sizes are packed into one ZIP file for download.
Frequently asked questions
Does it generate a .ico file too?
No — this generates PNG favicons only, which every modern browser accepts. It skips the legacy multi-size .ico format, which isn't needed for current browsers.
What happens if my source image isn't square?
It's automatically center-cropped to a square before resizing, so the edges of a wide or tall image may get trimmed — for best results, start with a square source image.
What's the site.webmanifest file for?
It's a small JSON file that tells browsers, and Android's "add to home screen" feature, which of the generated icons to use as your site's app icon — it's already filled in and ready to use.
What's the size limit?
100MB for the source image you upload.
Is my image uploaded to a server to generate the favicons?
No — every size is generated locally in your browser, and the ZIP file is assembled there too.
