WebP to JPG

Convert WebP images to JPG

Converts a WebP image to JPG, for situations where you need a format that's universally supported by editors, printers, and older software that hasn't caught up to WebP yet.

How it works

The browser decodes the WebP file, and if it has a transparent background, you'll be asked to pick a background color first — JPG has no transparency channel, so anything transparent needs to be filled in with a solid color rather than turning black by accident. Opaque WebP images convert immediately with no extra step.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to transparent areas?

You choose a background color (white, black, or a custom color) before the file converts, and that color fills in wherever the WebP was transparent. If the image has no transparency, this step is skipped entirely.

What's the size limit?

100MB per file.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No — decoding, the background-color choice, and the final JPG encoding all happen in your browser.

Will the image quality change?

JPG uses lossy compression, so there's a small quality trade-off compared to the original WebP, though at the default encoding settings it's generally not noticeable.

Can I convert a WebP to PNG instead?

Yes — use the separate WebP to PNG tool if you need to keep transparency intact rather than filling it with a background color.
